Chester Wargaming Club – R.G.M.B. (the Royal Guild of Minted Boards) was started in 2005 when the local club, held at the Chester Games Workshop, was closed. Three members decided to try and set their own club and a couple of months later we opened for the first time. We started all those years ago with 7 members….now we have at least 24 people a week, sometimes upto 36! Why R.G.M.B? To find out more, please be sure to ask Alan, one of the club’s committee members and founders – we like to see him squirm!
The club is host to a whole range of games, from Warhammer 40,000 to Magic the Gathering and Warhammer Fantasy Role Play. Some members even bring their PSP’s to network game from time to time. We pride ourselves on offering a friendly environment to play games against like minded people and have no particular game affiliation. You can bring Monopoly for all we care, as long as you’re having fun! Please be aware that our members are slightly older and as such the club’s age range is strictly 16+.
Members are welcome to bring their own food. Many frequent the local take-a-way and fast food venues. We do insist that if you do bring your own food and drink, that you make sure you tidy up any empty packaging.
The club is held at Stanley Palace, a beautiful 16th Century Tudor Palace positioned near the historic Roman walls, on Watergate Street and is run by a voluntary group – The Friends of Stanley Palace. The club runs every Tuesday night, 6.00pm until 10.00pm, upstairs in the gallery. As we do have to hire this beautiful venue, there is unfortunately a charge for the night, £3.00 per person, per night.
